Veterans Day: Honoring a Legacy of Service and Security
On November 11th, we pause to honor all veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, recognizing their courage and commitment. Veterans Day—notice it has no apostrophe—belongs to all who’ve served, not to any single group. This distinction reflects the spirit of unity and respect that defines this day.
Originally, Veterans Day was known as Armistice Day, marking the end of World War I. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, an armistice was signed, closing the chapter on “the war to end all wars.” In 1954, the holiday expanded to honor all veterans, extending beyond those who served in World War I to encompass every American who has served.
In fact, the connection between protection and service extends to modern technology. In the 1950s, during the height of the Cold War, the U.S. developed the Semi-Automatic Ground Environment (SAGE) system—the first large-scale computer network designed to detect and respond to potential threats. Many consider this pioneering network to be the foundation of today’s IT security. SAGE set the precedent for using technology to protect vital systems, a concept that continues to shape the cybersecurity measures we rely on now.
At Quality Computer Consulting (QCC), we carry this legacy of service forward by safeguarding our clients’ systems with vigilance and integrity. Just as veterans have stood guard over our country, we’re dedicated to protecting your digital world. From cybersecurity to network monitoring, our mission is to provide dependable solutions that reflect the same commitment to protection.
To all veterans, thank you for your service and sacrifice. Your courage inspires us every day. Happy Veterans Day from QCC.
